{3 Things} Gals to Lunch With

A new series: A simple list of three things- a different theme- every week, just for fun.
Play along if you life. Leave your list or a link in the comments.

#1. Jennifer Armentrout
I had the pleasure of meeting her a couple of weeks ago at a book signing. I would love to chat with her over lunch about all things Supernatural/ Jensen Ackles. And why we are irritated with the Vampire Diaries this season.

#2 Jennifer Garner
I chose this picture on purpose because Alias is one of my most beloved tv series. I have loved Jennifer ever since. She kicked major ass on this show and is now a mom of three. I think we could be bffs. (I know two Jen's in a row)

#3 Elsie & Emma
Sisters from the blog A Beautiful Mess. I just want to pick their creative brains and have them style me. And also have them make me lunch. Their recipes and many drink recipes look delicious.

100 Book Challenge: November 2013

With December upon us I'm afraid there is no way I will make my goal of a 100 books this year... But I've come pretty close. I will see how many I can finish this month with all the business of the holidays. I extremely enjoyed giving myself this challenge and am going to do the same for 2014.

71. Looking for Alaska By John Green
Oh my gosh this book! John Green has become one of my favorite authors. His books are considered teen but have so much meaning. As a teen I don't think I would have been able to grasp the knowledge that I have from his books. The way he writes is beautiful. He breaks down these teenage life experiences and pulls things out of you that you didn't even know were there. I keep a journal for my kids that they will share one day that has little tidbits of my thoughts and things that are important to me that I want them to remember and learn from and question themselves. I have a whole page devoted to a quote from this book "We are greater than the sum of our parts".

72. Wolf Mark by Joseph Bruchac
Another teen library find. Once again I am reading a book with a "wolf" concept. I never grow tired of them. This book was from a male teen perspective and it was a fun read. I also loved the author's use of the Russian language throughout the book. This was mythical with a lot of action and some sci-fi. Very Alex Mack-esque (See this, if you have no idea what that reference means). With corrupt organizations, a twist on the werewolf, and vampire.

73. A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness
Recommended by a co-worker as the Harry Potter book for adults. It's a nice size read took me quite a bit on my Kindle even though I was reading at a good pace. There's obviously witches....a vampire love interest, and demons. Also a house that is magic. Which is one of my favorite parts of the book. Oh look House added an extra room...we must be expecting visitors! Ha.  The depth of her character development is amazing. I love the way she shows the behavior of vampires as individuals and families.  And the progression of the relationship between Diana and Matthew is believable and enjoyable. I don't want to put any spoilers out there but the main character is about to start an incredible journey at the end of this book so I am anxious to get my hands on the second one.

74. Origin (Lux #4) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
I had the amazing opportunity this month to meet Jennifer and get my copy of Origin signed! It was my first book signing ever and it was so much fun! I was def fan-girling. She was so entertaining and had my exact sense of humor. I loved that she watches and reads most of the books I do. Reason why I probably love her writing. The fourth book of the Lux series does NOT disappoint. TONS of action and some romance. If you watched Roswell you will enjoy this story. I highly recommend anything she has written. Up next by her the Half Blood Series.

75. Paper Towns by John Green
My second John Green book this month. His style of writing is so compelling to me. I feel like it is what I would aspire to be. He absolutely captures that "weird inbetween age" but his characters have such a mature way of examining themselves. I loved Margo and her mysteriousness. And the fun journey they went on trying to find her. It's something that you wish you did when you were younger, just have an adventure.

76. Hush Hush By Becca Fitzpatrick
Who doesn't like a mysterious love interest with a supernatural background. I liked the dialogue between Nora and Patch. This book wasn't perfect but it kept me interested. There are three more books  in the series and I will be reading them.
